I wouldn't, but you could try. Dyer lint will have cotton, but it would also have polyester, wouldn't it? And cotton does not break down very well.

I keep a small bucket in my laundry room that I throw dryer lint into. When it gets about half full, I toss it in the worm bin. I use dryer sheets, and even have some polyester shirts, it doesn't matter. It takes a little while, but it disappears. I imagine the little bit of polyester lint just disperses throughout the bin, which will end up in the ground at some point. I'm not concerned.

As far as cotton not breaking down, I've been pretty impressed at how well it does actually break down. I threw in a pair of boxers to see what would happen. I kind of forgot about them in there, and was wondering what a bunch of strings all tied together were. I finally pulled the entire thing out, and all that was left of the boxers were the elastic band, the tag, and the threads that stitched everything together. I'm not sure why the threads remained, maybe they aren't cotton.

Socks, on the other hand, don't seem to be going anywhere.

From experience yes lint works fine

I wouldn't put lint into my bins, but others do. Since I use my compost on veggies, I don't put anything in there that I wouldn't want to eat. I'm speaking chemical wise.
