It depends on how strict your definition of "organic" is. If you want to have your crops certified "organic," then maybe not. If you just want to know if it is "organic matter" that all the gardening books recommend you add to your soil, then yes.

I don't believe anyone other than a certified quibbler would consider worm casting inorganic regardless what was used as bedding. If the bedding was found suitable by the worms,who knows better than them? If one cares to split hair about organic gardening,every composting operation carried out by cities accidentialy includes plastic,rubber,pesticides and such. I to am curious about the context you ask.

In our modern day, pure organics would be virtually impossible to attain. If you don't grow it on your own pristine land, with no chems, or acid rain, or runoffs from adjoining chemoheads' properties etc, it ain't....by the old definition....organic.

Nowadays, if you don't use stuff with label warnings to keep your pets and kids away for 24 hours, or (that male enhancement medication product spelled beginning with "V")*, you're good to go.

*(The Garden Forum word police wouldn't allow me to use the "V"-word because it "created a string of security concern questions" that they wouldn't explain.)
