My First Vermi-Harvest

perridale

I did a bit of maintenance on my 3 tray worm farm over the weekend and noticed the bottom tray was nearly devoid of worms. I scooped out enough compost to half fill a plastic cat-litter tub. The batch I harvested was started in mid-June. I picked out around 25-50 strays and a few egg casings and put them in an active tray. I plan on brewing up a batch or two of tea to see how it compares to some regular compost tea batches I've made in the past.

My wife said the worm compost had the slight odor of fresh peat....yummy!
