So, I harvested my first bin. With my 4 year olds help. I was pretty proud of her even though she might have squashed and dropped a couple. She was really squimish at first but by the end, she was wanting to hold the worms and put them in the new bin herself. I was putting the worms in a seperate container for a bit, to get an idea of how many there were, and built a "worm inn" for them out of cardboard, egg shells and lettuce. It made it a little harder for me to see how many I had but we had a lot of fun. She learned all about cocoons and composting. She's always asking for fruits or vegtables now so she can feed the worms.:)
