The Value of a Flow Through

equinoxequinox

Sometimes I wonder if part of the value of a flow is the fact that air can get in two times more rather than just the top. Also the value of any bad gasses can easily drain away. In a system with no bottom opening these can build up. Even the systems with spouts would be useful if the spout is left open for the bad gasses to drain out. This benefit would be true even if no fluid needs to be drained or vermicompost harvested from the bottom. Does anyone else feel there is value in an opening at the bottom of a bin to drain gasses of decomposition?
