Yummy manure

I have decided to do some experimentation with different worm foods.

In my flow through bin that looks just like the one in this link http://forums.gardenweb.com/forums/load/verm/msg042040421641.html, I divided into three sections.

One section has kitchen food scraps, that I frozed, thawed, and pre-composted for two days. The amount is about three tablespoons.

Another section has relatively fresh horse manure. I am guessing the amount is about two tablespoons.

Third section has cooked oatmeal. The amount is about half a tablespoon. I just didn't want to overfeed my worms with heavy starchy stuff.

All these worm foods were spread thinly. Then I sprayed rain water, and covered with some large leaves.

It's been four days so far.

The first day, I saw some action in horse manure area.

Second day, I saw more worms in horse manure area.

Third day, I saw piles of worms in horse manure area.

Fourth day, I saw more worms in horse manure area, some worms in oatmeal area which I believe started fermenting therefore became a bit interesting to the worms. Every so often, I see some worms in kitchen food section.

I was hoping to see my worms doing the same thing with the oatmeal as this picture, http://vermicomposters.ning.com/photo/2094123:Photo:2862. after he fed rice.

Once the oatmealI gets well fermented, the worms may circle around it but so far my worms show definite preference for horse manure over anything else.
