I doubt you cooked them at 80 degrees F. Canadian night crawlers typically don't do well in a bin environment. They are deep burrowers, and a bin gives them no opportunity to burrow. They may have just died off due to an unsuitable environment.

I heard from some others elsewhere that I probably did kill my Canadian Night Crawlers by overheating them.

A few weeks later, I looked again at my Night Crawlers bins, now sitting on the carpeted floor instead of on top the computer. Still see no night crawlers, but a LOT of gnats. Soooooo I dumped out both the current bin and the older mostly castings and bedding bin into one of my outside trash cans perforated into a compost bins. I'm assuming hidden in there are some cocoons that will grow and hatch some time this spring. By growing up in compost, they should like compost and so forth.

So now I have just two indoor bins of Red Worms, and one outside bin that may well someday be Night Crawlers, plus that's where I'll put my rescued concrete driveway worms when it rains!
