How to use bamboo poles

Posted by dowbright z6 in Missouri (My Page) on

I just received free bamboo poles--very tall! 12-15 feet, maybe.

I want to use them with tomatoes. Any suggestions as the best way to use them?

I'm virtually idea-less on this!

Thanks,
Paula

Well you could always cut them down to size and use them as a single stake. Or you could "lash" them together and make tripods and then trellis them up. ( lashing instructions can be found online) If you do the tripod design you could always plant something in the middle or pile compost to passively feed the plants. (I use bamboo poles for my pole beans.)

Of course if want to go elaborate I suppose you could lash them into square tomato cages.
