That is a great picture of vertical gardening. Can you give the dimensions and what you used to build it? I like the shape of the tubular pieces you used. Please do post pictures of the "privacy" fence...it sounds like a nice design.

I didn't write down the dimensions - the vertical supports are large sewer pipes, and I think I cut them to around 10'. 18" or so is sunk in the dirt with a little cement. The horizontal supports are 1" sewer pipe cut to whatever length looks good. There are 2 horizontal pipes running parallel to each other for each section so you can support large fruits and veggies between the 2 pipes - if that makes any sense. It's painted with plain old house paint and hasn't peeled in 2 years.

Still no fence - the contractors had a family emergency, and we are still digesting the estimate for using cedar, yikes! We'll still do it soon, but it may be with another type of wood. The wire we're using is deer fencing.

Agree, this looks great. I can't tell how the horizontals are attached to the larger pipe. Do tell, please.

The horizontals are just poked through the holes. The holes were drilled slightly larger than the diameter of the pipes. The vine all over it in that picture is a gourd, and we just cut off the gourds yesterday and pulled down the vine so the squashes and cukes could get a little more sun and have more room to climb. Getting the vine down was so super simple, because I could just slide the pipes backward through the vertical pipes, and the vine pretty much just fell off in big clumps. It was a 5-minute job. If you don't want them to move, you could try a little contact cement or something to hold them in place, I guess.

This is so great - and attractive. Is the sewer pipe (1") plastic or steel?? Love how easy it is removal wise!

It's all the white plastic coex sewer pipe. I think it cost around $35-40 in materials to make.
