I'm relatively new to growing vining plants and would like to get some wisteria cuttings for trade or postage.

RE: WANTED: Wisteria cuttings

Ginny, just a bug in your ear: cuttings from this vine are extremely difficult to root - I've propagated cuttings for 35 years and still haven't mastered this one! It suckers readily, so I would recommend you ask for a ROOTED cutting/plant.

RE: WANTED: Wisteria cuttings

I have had the opposite experience w/wisteria cuttings. Mine rooted the very first try and bloomed the following year. Here's what I did:

About a month before mother plant breaks dormancy, select 10-15 foot cane, approximately 1 cm diameter at base, from mother plant. Starting w/base of cane, coil up 6-8 feet in a 1 foot diameter coil. Plant about 3-6 inches down (I don't know if the planting depth is zone-dependent). Water every week or so if cutting is in the shade, probably more frequently in sun (mine was on the north side of a fence so mostly in shade). Cutting finally grew leaves about July, several months past normal time for leafing out.

RE: WANTED: Wisteria cuttings

I can get you some Wisteria from mine that has layered itself to the grownd already with roots if you like.
