What kind of Vine has been left?

Hi, just moved to a new house...no one took much care of some pretty awesome plants. there are two vines i still can't identify...they've been hacked out repeatedly by previous owners but are growing like they were planted on purpose - nothing i've seen before. the stump is about 5 inches across, very vigorous growers (on either side of a porch, south facing).

Vine is purple, leaves are purple then green - five leaves. flowers are small, start out kind of like pods then open to a 4 petaled purple flower (just starting).

i don't love these plants but really would like to know what they are before i do anything.

thanks so much for any help-

shelley

Look up Akebia quinata and see if that's what you have.
