Dimples - The plant you have there looks like
Ipomoea indica to me...and this species is often self-incompatible and therefore may not produce seeds... The plant that you have may overwinter if you mulch the roots or as the person who provided you with the plant suggested,you could root cutting in water and overwinter the plant by that method keeping the young plants in a sunny window...
