sarah, sweet peas climb via tiny tendrils and can't possibly cling to something large. They need string trellis, chain link fence, even bird type netting to wrap those bitty curling tips around. They will begin to peter out when the weather gets hot - more quickly if you don't pick the flowers before pods/seeds are formed. Once a few pea pods mature on the vines, the plants will stop flowering and begin to die back.

Do you know of any annual type vines that will grow up the pillars? I suppose I could try and wrap the pillars with netting or something. Thats kind of a bummer, I really liked the sweet pea seeds i bought (they are the Streamer Mix), they looked really pretty, but they seem like a lot of work, just for a short show!
