Blackberry vine removal question

I'm cutting down a bunch of small alder trees from about 1/4 acre of my property, and I intend to get a chipper and use the chips in my garden. There are blackberry vines mixed in with the alders. Some of the vines are clearly dead, but there are quite a few large, green canes (no leaves yet for the year).

My question is: When I'm chipping how careful do I need to be with the blackberry vines so they don't start growing where I spread my chips?

Do I have to worry if pieces of the green vines go through the chipper and get mixed in with the chips, or do I only need to worry about keeping root material out of the process?
