Pruning Clematis question

I have a Clematis 'Henryii' (Pruning group 2) and I've only pruned him once the first year. This will be his 4th or 5th year and he's a tangled mess on my arbor. He bloomed beautifully almost all spring through fall last year. I don't want to miss out on the blooms but it's really a mess.

Can I pruned him back now? Will he still bloom for me like he did last year?

I too would like to know about pruning. My sweet autumn clematis is a mess on my fence, but I'm uncertain what or when to do something with it.
