Vine for screening deck in Boise Idaho

Hi there all I live in Boise, idaho. I have a gorgeous deck that faces west and during the summer it cooks here in Boise. The deck has about a 12" space between the side of the deck and the concrete for the drive way. I was wondering if there is a vine that I could grow that might provide shade along the side of the deck.

I would love a fast growing vine that might be providing some shade by mid july to august if that is possible.

Russian Lace Vine could be your answer. It grows quickly. A plus is that you would be able to keep it contained in the spot you have in mind.

It has somewhat glossy, pointed leaves about 2-3 inches long, and panicles of tiny white flowers that have a frothy appearance.

You would need to make the soil a bit humusy and see that it has enough water for lush growth.

You could try growing hops. A lot of people around here grow it as an ornamental vine. It's fast-growing. (Some sources say it can grow up to a foot a day!)
