Preventing Future Take Over of Chinese Wisteria?

Hi Ladies and Gents.

So IÂve been reading through posts here about Chinese Wisteria to try and figure out why those I planted last year have not bloomed yet. During my reading I found that Chinese Wisteria is invasive?!? Anyways I have already purchased the plants and planted them so I really do not want to remove them. Since they are all very young I figure there should be a way I could keep them contained and not become a bother to any future neighbors.

Can someone tell me how the Wisteria runners work? Are they above ground or underground?

If they are underground do you think if I sunk two or three inches of lawn edging around the plant it would prevent runners?

Any suggestions for preventative measures I could take other than just simply digging them up and replacing them.

Thank You!
