Gelsemium planting instructions

I am trying out Gelsemium sempervirens 'Margarita', which is supposed to be a more hardy and highly fragrant version of the typical Carolina Jessamine (Jasmine). I know that when planting Clematis, the general recommendation is to plant the new plant a few inches deeper than it was in the pot in order to encourage new shoots. Is this a general rule when planting vines, or just a recommendation for Clematis in particular?

This was a difficult plant to acquire, so I'm hoping it works out well.

Also, anyone with this plant care to comment on it?

Thanks
