new vine advice

I am a new gardener and just planted a variety of vines and plants and wanted a little advice on how to maintain them. I have a fairly large planter (15ft x 4ft) against a cement wall and went to a local nursery to purchase something that would "climb up the wall and have lots of color." I Ended up with 10 total plants, 5 vines ( 2 cats claw, one orange honeysuckle, 2 purple trumpets and a couple day lillies and pink boganvillia.) After reading more about the cats claw I am afraid it's going to overtake the entire garden and kill all the other plants in it. Literally 24 hours after planting it one of it's "claws" were wrapped around one of the other vines I planted next to it.....
Should I remove the cat's claw before it kills any other plants or is there a way to maintain it so it won't overgrow? How much maintanance will it require?
Please help I don't want my new garden to smother!!
Any advice is much appreciated!!
