Is Ajuga considered a vine, & would it work on a trellis?

Hello,

I'm looking for something to plant on the north [front] side of my house that would look good growing on a small trellis/arbor. There are some Japanese Hollies there on either side with space in the middle for ???. Nothing else is planted in that bed, and I was wanting something attractive and evergreen that could act as a groundcover, as well as perhaps grow up the arbor. I recently found "Burgundy Glow" Ajuga that really appeals to me, but I'm wasn't sure about a trellis. If I plant it there, I will probably repeat it elsewhere in the yard, as well as add some to my windowboxes, because I appreciate continuity. It gets a few hrs. of morning sun, and shade after that.

I'm a little bored with ivy, but I do like it mixed with other things, and in our zone, at least it looks good all year. Any ideas?
