Please reconsider your choice of vine. I have creeping fig and 3 yrs ago it was just what I wanted. It covered an old wooden privacy fence and gave it new life. Seems the creeping fig has decided to expand its travels. Thought I had contained it with proper maintenance and cutting it back, but it is the "UNDERGROUND" root system that has caused the most damage. YOU WILL NOT BE ABLE TO KILL BACK THE PLANT ONCE IT IS ESTABLISHED. The roots appear to create a very strong underground network and then little shooter follow along on the top of the ground. I really love the look of my fence, however I have paid a sore price for it. It has taken over two huge water oaks, the side of my house, and the side / back yard.

I would think there is another type of vine that would give you the same coverage / apparence as the creeping fig with out the headache.
