It should do just fine for you.

It takes on a purple tinge to the foliage in Winter and piles up on the top of the trellis. I have never pruned it. You might prefer the double-flowered 'Pride of Augusta'. I am speaking of Gelsemium sempervirens, which, although called a Jasmine, seems odorless to me.
