climbing hydrangea question

Hello,

I have a south facing wall on my limestone house that I would like to plant a H. anomala petiolaris 'skylands' at the base of. Since the house was built in the mid to late 1800's, the mortar in many spots is rather crumbly; we had to get it re-pointed on the east wall. Will the climbing hydrangea harm the already compromised mortar? I'm hoping it will cling to the limestone itself. I've read here and elsewhere that climbing hydrangea isn't as damaging as ivy when it comes to aerial roots. Does anyone have any experience or advice for this situation?
