Vine Suitable to be near HVAC Unit

Hello all,

Last year we planted Sweet Autumn Clematis on a big arbor. The plant in front of the HVAC struggled. Amazingly, it's still alive, and I didn't cut it all the way back so it wouldn't have to get past the blast of heat from the unit this year. Still, I doubt it will make it once we get the A/C going.

Any advice on a vine that will? I'm open to anything perennial!

It's never a good idea to plant anything in front of an a/c unit - it blocks the air flow. The reason your plants didn't do well is that the a/c blows out HOT air, thus, cooking your plant.
