In your zone, I don't think MGs reseed. Well, they DO reseed, but I think your winter will kill the seeds. You canNOT control where the vine will go, though, unless you cut it back almost daily. (*grin*)

Which morning glory do you plan to grow? I agree with previous statements for Japanese morning glory in species Ipomoea nil. Ipomoea purpurea tends to be more winter hardy.

The volunteer seedlings are quite easy to pull out in the spring. You would not have that many volunteers is you collected the seed capsules brfore the capsules opened up.
