Questions for MG growers :0)

I would like to try to grow a few morning glories in some 10-12" Walmart plastic pots that I have. I have never successfully grown a morning glory!

I had planned to just use the Expert Gardener Perfect Mix All Purpose Potting Soil that I have been using for my other seeds, but now realize that it has both fast-release and slow-release fertilizer in it. Now I'm afraid to plant into it, because I've read that MGs will produce mostly foliage and few flowers if given fertilizer. Should I go out and get some plain potting soil w/o fertilizer, or can I use the topsoil I have outside? Should I plant more than 2-3 seeds in each pot? (I know to soak the seeds.)

I was hoping to place the pots on either side of the front steps, to kind of twine up the wood railings. I would like to plant something BOLD and STRIKING, maybe a picotee? Our house is medium blue with a burgundy metal roof-thought a fuchsia-burgundy or crimson color might be neat. Any suggestions/pictures welcome!

Thanks so much for your help.
