Potted Wisteria Breaking free, Question

I have 2 potted wisteria (no idea what type they are exactly just that one was purple and one was white) they were purchased from one of the box stores at least 3 years ago. One is on my deck and another is on a lower brick patio.

The one on the patio has obviously busted through the bottom because it's size is significantly larger than the one on the deck. And it is flowering for the first time EVER. I have not really messed with the pots too much on this one, but I can see that it is no longer flat on the ground, the roots I suppose have raised it off the ground some.

MY QUESTION:

What would happen to it if I sever the roots that have obviously gone into the ground and leave what remains in the pot only? I dont have to do this now, I can wait til it's dormant again. I'd rather wait so that I can enjoy these first ever flowers (this one is the white one)
