Lonicera japonica 'Purpurea'

I don't think my Purple Leaf Japanese Honeysuckle made it through the winter =(

I don't see any leafing out at all although there looks like there might have been buds earlier this spring. I'm wondering if those tiny buds are going to do anything. It's suppose to be hardy to zone 6, but as my local nursery told me "we're in zone 6, but we plant for zone 5".

Should I wait before I pull it out or get a hardier vine to plant in it's place now? If this is suppose to be an invasive plant, it's not doing a very good job of it.

I'd like to cover my fence for more privacy because I can see through the boards. I don't mind trimming throughout the season and I really want to establish my sideyard.
