GARDENING GUIDESGreat Design Plant: Glandularia Rigida Paints the Ground Purple
Sandpaper verbena's deep purple flowers create a colorful carpet in drought-tolerant gardens
Full StoryOne of my Tecomaria capensis has suddenly developed a radically different flower on one branch. Usually it has small red/orange trumpet flowers, but this one sport is very different, being a light pink, open, and about 4-5X the diameter. Even the leaves are different, being larger and less closely placed.
The usual flower colour and size can be seen in the background of the middle right of the second picture. This sport doesn't even flower at the same time as the rest of the plant. When I first spotted it, I wondered what that strange vine was growing through the Tecomaria, I was amazed when I saw it was actually the same plant.
Is this a common sport, or even a named variety, or have I got something of some potential value here?
