Help! Wisteria Girdled By Rodents...Is It Dead?

Had a question for the forum. Our Wisteria is a few years old but this winter the base of the vine was severely chewed by rodents and in essence girdled. The entire vine is dead above the ground but noticed there are shoots coming up from underground near it's roots. I believe these are below the graph. Will these still be a nice blooming Wisteria (in time) of the same cultivar or is Wisteria usually grafted with another type of vine and we would be just wasting our time because it would be either a completely different species (Not a Wisteria) or perhaps an undesirable type of Wisteria? Any help would be appreciated. I don't know the exact cultivar we have. I believe it was the fragrant Chines type with lavender flowers. Thanks so much!!
