Star Jasmine potted, winter care and other...

Hi,

I have some potted star jasmines vines.

1. They came with a stake, but I assume these will grow more during the spring and summer as it gets hotter. I don't mind building a larger trellis in the pot if it does. It's about 2.5 feet now, guidlines on how it grows in a pot? How large to make trellis?

2. I intend to take this plant indoors before the winter freeze. How does one undertake this, cut back all growth to a certain level? Bring in all at once or transition? Unheated garage with no light suitable storage (or cellar)?

I'm not sure that an evergreen, full-sun plant will take to living in a dark garage all winter long.

I know this as an extremely vigorous woody vine, capable of tearing down sturdy wooden railings and fences as it matures. It will probably be less aggressive in your northern location, but I'd be prepared with a large trellis.

We are speaking about Trachelospermum jasminoides, right? Aka, Confederate Jasmine/Star Jasmine?

It's not going to be happy in a dark garage or cellar, it's evergreen. Needs a sunny window or grow light indoors.
