sweet potato that doesn't trail

I bought a 'blackie' sweet potato two months ago, I chose one that was a perfect little bush form.

It never sends out trailing vines. Is that odd? Or is it just a slow grower I got?

Sometimes they tend to stay more compact...

You could try giving it some nitrogen which may stimulate leaf growth along with some stem elongation..

I prefer to use very pro-biotic sources of Nitrogen like soybean meal...
