I was at a local garden 2 years ago where they had the most beautiful honeysuckle in bloom -- large red and white blossoms, the nicest I'd ever seen. So I took a cutting home to see if I could grow it, not knowing what the variety was. I was so excited when it rooted! It continued to grow, and last spring I transplanted it into the spot I felt would be best for it.
This year it is strong, healthy and blooming! And guess what I have?
An ordinary, rampantly invasive everywhere Japanese honeysuckle shrub with the usual small white blossoms!

I suppose there must have been one growing unnoticed within the mass of the desirable one and that is what I cut by mistake (although I think that I took a stem with blossom on it, can't say for sure now)

It is getting shovel pruned this afternoon.
