 o
Vine ID

I put this on the Gallery but got no takers on the ID, so I thought I would try to get an ID where there's more traffic. The vine is in a shady area, has uniquely shaped leaves and has tendrils. I have not seen any flower or seeds. Any idea as to what it is?

It looks like it could be Menispermum canadense - google it and see if it's a match.

Thanks, it does look similar, someone else id'd it as Passiflora Lutea which looks a little closer. I guess I'll have to wait for a flower to get a good id.

P. lutea was my first thought, too, but I have it and the leaves on mine are hairy - these leaves appear to be smooth.

Uh oh, now I need to check for hairy leaves. The person who said it was p.Lutea said her lobes were rounder than he one I spotted. All the leaves have 3 lobes where most of the images of Menispermum canadense appear to have an extra point on the side lobes. I'll let you know whether the leaves are smooth or hairy.

The underside of the leaf is rough and the top is smooth. The leaf is thin and seems as if it would tear easily. Does that help?

The vine is starting to get buds, I'm getting closer to the true identity.

Finally got a bloom, I vote P.Lutea.
