Beginner Gardener-Morning Glories

I'm new to gardening, this is only my 2nd year. Okay. So, I think I got a little too excited when planting my morning glories/moon flowers in pots (I mixed it up, each pot has some morning glory and moonflower, but mostly morning glory) We rigged up a rope trellis system so they would create a screen from my neighbor. I think I put WAAAY to many seeds in the pots. I have one of those long window box type planters and I have like, 20 in there. Then I have 8inch pots and they have about 10 in each. Should I pinch some off so they don't choke each other out? Or is it kind of like the more the merrier? They all look quite healthy except something is nibbling on a few of them, so I they'd be the ones to go first if I had to pinch off. I need some help with that too, how can I protect my sprouts from getting eaten? Thank you in advance, any advice is much appreciated!
