wisteria amethyst falls

Hi..I have a couple of yr old wisteria that I want to move but the only thing I can think of to grow it up is about a 18inch wide tree. Will It grow up a tree without any support? If not, I could maybe find a way to get it some support till it was growing up. Any thoughts would be helpful...thanks bobby

Run some fine wire up the tree from the spot where the Wisteria is growing. Use a rock to secure the wire at the bottom, then run it up to the first branch. You can run more than one wire up to the lowest branch.
