Are the plants in a container or planted directly in the ground (?)

Placing a water reservoir under any containers and some compost or wood chips on top of the growing medium will help to keep the plants hydrated and looking nice...

The leaves near the bottom of the MG vines will often fade and fall off as the nutrients are trans-located from the older leaves to the newest growth...

They are in the ground. I posted a pic, the river rocks help to keep the dirt underneath moist. Thanks for the info, that helps a lot--as the rest of theplant is healthy and is climbing taller everyday.

whitbit - you mentioned that you posted a picture...where did you post the picture (?)...

watering the plants after the sun is less intense will enable the plants to absorb more water than if you water when the sun is intense since the sun will evaporate the water from out of the ground...

I posted it in the picture gallery. Since then the leaves have all died on the bottom. I always water my plants around 7 to 8 o clock when tere's no sun on them. My other morning glories are going really well, but theyre nowhere near the one that doesnt looks so good.

I'd suggest replacing the rocks around the bottom of the plant with some woodchips and keep the plant well watered...the rocks may be reflecting too much heat
