Monsanto, the maker of Roundup, is reporting record profits. Now might be a good time for you to buy. If you are planning to continue the fight, I may look into investing also.

I'm sure you have tried everything by now. Someone posted an extreme suggestion on this forum several years ago. They filled plastic Coke bottles with concentrated Roundup. Then they secured growth tips of the vine inside the bottles....and just walked off, leaving the trumpet vine to gulp down the herbicide. Thats an image you don't want to think about when sipping on a coke. I can only hope there were no children or pets in the neighborhood.

Yeah, I have a ten month old son but he doesn't go into the backyard yet (on the ground I mean) because he wants to eat everything...bugs, grass, stones, flowers. So I don't need to worry about him. Luckily the vine is in our back yard and there are no other people or animals that come around. Also, our cat doesn't go out when we are working on the vine.

We have been painting the vines with Roundup (we should invest) as we see them come up but never thought about allowing the plant to "drink" it. It all just seems a little cruel, doesn't it? Just too afraid of the damage this trumpet vine can cause and we are now seeing it climb through the other bushes! It would climb our trees too if we let it! Oh well, we can only try...

I've repeatedly injected Round Up directly into cut stems with a hypodermic needle and that didn't work. I've tried everything short of gasoline and a match and that probably wouldn't work either. After 8 years of trying to kill them I finally learned to coexist with the vines but I have heard people recommend a product called Vine-X.
