Final Verdict: Crimson Rambler?

Ok, I'm hoping some of you experts with Crimson Rambler are reading this. It was great to have Emma following yesterday! After looking at the Split Personality pics on Dave's Garden that Emma posted a couple years ago, I see that every petal is truly separate, and mine is split but sits close to the next petal. Here is what bloomed this morning, from different angles.

thanks for all the great discussion the last few days, I really am learning so much about MGs!

RE: Final Verdict: Crimson Rambler?

The most recent photo looks to be 'split personality' if the splits are consistent and not caused by any type of external influences or just difficulty with the flower opening , also the number of splits can vary on these from 1 or 2 to more bordering on a more highly split hige.

The split personality can also produce flowers with few or no splits and so it is very helpful to show a series of what the plant is producing and to be sure that multiple vines of different types growing together are not confounding the ID.

Is there only one pink purpurea producing the blooms in question or are there multiple pink flowered purps growing in very close proximity or otherwise intertwined because that is a significant question related to arriving at the right answer.

Ron (my MG mentor and hero) is taking a 'temporary leave of absence' until he can get caught up on his backlog of getting seed packages sent out , but I communicated with him very recently and he should be up and running again relatively soon.

No one has been forgotten , even those who might think they have been , so keep the faith.

Eyes, there is only one pink purpurea producing the blooms so far. I have several Mg vines that haven't flowered yet, but the ones that have are the ones I've posted this week.

Very interesting observation on the splits. I am just still confused as to the identity. When I google "Split Personality" I get many that look exactly like mine. But Emma's looks like a very elegant, very differant bloom.

I'm confused!

Emma's look different because she has consistently selected out the very best blooms , but the other photos in the PlantFiles do not look anywhere near as distinct as Emma's

Yes, mine look more like the others on Davesgarden in the link you provided.

I'm looking forward to Ron coming back to the forum. Last summer he was very helpful in identifying my I.Indica.

I posted pics of my morning's blooms a while ago. You can see the newest Split Personality/Crimson Ramber bloom.

Thanks for the info, Eyes.
