Campsis is a weed that we have taken a liking to. In nature, the only fertilizer it gets is rotting leaves, so if you want to 'fertilize' it, buy some cow poo or compost and work it into the soil around the roots.

Your pot should be fine, BUT - you need to set it on concrete or it will escape through the holes in the pot and take over you whole yard. You don't need to coddle this plant - it will thrive on its own.
