Can you show the leaves closer? It looks like a pole bean to me - possibly a scarlet runner.

In NC, adjacent to lawn, I'd lean toward Kudzu although usually one sees HUGE patches, not individual vines. Where is it creeping from to the right?

I've never seen kudzu (lucky me?) but having looked it up I would also go for that id. I didn't realise it was a Papilionaceae member.

Yes, you are lucky. Recently saw it all the way up near the OH river in KY. There are pics of the flowers "out there" but I've never once noticed Kudzu flowers at any time of year while passing an infestation of it, of which there are tons in this area. Pics don't really convey what a forest looks like when it's just giant, undulating lumps and bumps of kudzu leaves. I'd prefer to be wrong about this ID!!!! What are your thoughts, Duggins?
