I have seen some with white rims that are not quite as true blue as 'Heavenly Blue' and there was once one fabulous sort called 'Gentian Blue' that was intensely blue-violet. That one may be lost to the trade and I wish I could find it. Interesingly enough, as I have grown 'Heavenly Blue' from different companies, the color is lighter or darker. All are true blue, though.

There are actually a few true blue Japanese MGs. Some are dark and some are sky blue. I will post a photo of some of mine in a while. email me and maybe we can trade.

I have a really pretty blue Japanese MG. I have to try to dig through the foliage to find the tag. The blooms are about 5" across and last a good part of the day.

Karyn, could the name be Hatsu Arashi? That's what the pic looks like.

Some others that are solid blue, or just about solid blue are some japanese varieties, but some of them turn to a lavender later in the day.

I have that labeled in my photo album as fuji frost and posted the wrong name when I posted the pic.

Hmm, "most likely fuji no murasaki". I'm pretty sure the seeds came from Emma and they where labeled fuji frost.
Will double check and see what info I have on it.

Aker I'm going to collect seeds but this vine is growing along side a few other Japanese varieties so it's most likely been cross pollinated.

One of my Mt. Fuji's bloomed today and it is pink/white.
