An unusual morning glory

I have Star of Yelta (at least what I think is SOY) coming up all over the place and I've been pulling them up. I came across this one that has a mix of regular and split blooms so I left it. Is it possible the seed was from a Star of Yelta that was pollinted by one of my hige varieties? Only about a 1/3 of the blooms are split.

Hi Karen, sure looks like that may have happened. You may also have a purpurea that has the hige gene...Did you plant them as SOY? It seems a true SOY is a lot darker than yours looks in the photo.

The blooms are a bit darker then they appear in the pics. I'm not sure if it's a SOY or maybe something like Grandpa Otts. Whatever it is it reseeded like crazy all over the yard and I've been ripping it out by the trashbag full. It's not one of the varieties I particularly like but I did think the split bloom was kind of neat looking.

Karen, if you get seeds from it I would be interested in trading for some.

I'm tagging the split blooms with a piece of thread as I see them. If get seeds I'll let you know. I've already seen pods on it but I don't know if they are from the normal or split blooms.
