| This bloom opened today but I have no idea it's ID. Kind of very dark with lighter gray edges with white tips.

| helena - the bloom you have there is a 'margined rayed' that comes out of the Hama no Murasaki...when the fuchia pigment becomes diluted the resultant color tends to look more on the blue-purple side rather than a reddish-purple...the color in the photo looks like a 'steel' blue-purple...but they would usually still be refered to basically as a 'margined rayed ao-murasaki'...the Japanese tend to use names that actually describe the features of the flower... They often benefit from some hand pollination assistance for optimal seed production... Keep me in mind for a few seeds if you get enough to share... TTY,... Ron |
