We bought older house with wisteria vine growing over much of the front of the house and up into the eaves and onto the roof. We want to take the vine off before it causes too much damage. But we want to save it. We would like to train it onto a pergola or other such structure and direct it away from the house. A couple of questions come to mind before we proceed. (1) Just how much can we safely cut back the vine and expect it to recover and resprout? (2) Can you recommend any pergola designs or kits? Thanks.
