The dead flies are most likely the result of having their guts sucked out by 'daddy long legs' which prey on the flies that roost on the leaves at night...

The fly bodies may look like they are still alive , if you see them very soon after having their insides turned into soup , or they may look 'mummified' with a slight glossy dried mucousy look...and if you try to move the shell of the bodily remains with a stick or some other probe , they tend to stick to the leaf surface...of course after about a week or so (especially after a rain) , the shell just disintegrates...

How do I know (?)...because I have watched the process 1st hand...
