Sherri, I have some cuttings rooting in water now - just cut them yesterday. I have started them by sticking them directly into a half sand/half potting soil mix and watering from the bottom. Try both ways.

I have 24 that are now stepped up to 6" pots, that I rooted in a mixture of 1/2 perlite and 1/2 spagnum. I placed them in the shade and sprayed with water a couple of times a day.

3 weeks ago I took 3, 4 " cuttings off my blue sky vine. I dipped them in rooting hormone and put them in a pot with 100% perlite, watered them and placed a gal. size plastic milk jug over them and left the top cap off. I put them under our deck where they get filtered sun. Every few days I misted them a little. They are all rooted now. They seem to rooot pretty easily.

this grows in zone 5??? do you grow it as an annual?? if you are taking cuttings in sept., what do you do with them until next spring???

This is my first year growing this particular plant but in the past I have taken cuttings from tender vines or tropicals,rooted them and gave them a sunny windowsill until spring. Seems cuttings do better for me over the winter than bringing in a whole plant. Nevermind trying to find room.:) Sherri

Blue Sky vine should be root hardy to 10 deg.F.

should i purchase a potted plalnt now and plant now or should i wait until spring?
