| Hi, I am trying to identify a "vine" I found growing at an old homestead in the western US (zone 4). It is not a clasping vine...no tendrils, but vine-like.It has half inch, purple tubular flowers and 1/4 inch orange berries. It also has thorn-like structures on the younger stems and branches.
The trunk of the vine is almost tree like. I am guessing this vine has not been watered in 30 years and I am very curious about what it could be. |

| Can it be Lycium of some kind? |

| Yes! Thank you. After looking on the US plants database I think it is Lycium barbarum. Probably a common plant, but new to me. A very tough plant. |
