will this ivy damage the wood of my deck? (pics

I thought this ivy would look nice growing up the wooden supports for my deck...but I recently read that vines with aerial roots (which this definitely has) can grow into the surface and cause damage. Has anyone had experience with ivy damaging wood? the wood is not sealed with any wood sealant. Is my deck going to crumble in 20 years because of the ivy??

Nice photographs - I'm not a fan of this ivy however. Doesn't it adversely affect brick walls?

Yep, seen the damage first hand myself. I would pull it off immediately. In addition, the ivy will allow moisture to remain on the wood and long term this will cause issues even for pressure treated wood.
