thunbergia grandiflora over-winter in north

From a little plant from Logee's bought this spring I now have a huge vine in a pot on my patio only now starting to flower. I don't have a greenhouse and not even many good sunny windows but was wondering if there is a way to over-winter this. I am hoping maybe I could force it into dormancy (by letting a frost hit it) and then cut it back and stick it in my cool basement over-winter. Does anyone know if this would work? It works for many of my tropicals.

I have overwintered a Thunbergia, it may be grandiflora, but I forget now...I keep it in the garage, under an overhead light. I cut back on watering it and it seems to go dormant pretty well. I can always tell when spring is coming because it wakes up and starts making nice shoots out of the crown under the soil surface.
